Neostenanthera Exell is a genus of trees, treelets, shrubs, and under-shrubs distributed throughout west and central tropical Africa, from Guinea (Conakry) to the Democratic Republic of Congo. It occurs in a wide range of habitats from swampy areas to high rainforests and from almost sea level to 900 m. Comprising five species, Neostenanthera can be considered endemic to the Guineo-Congolian region.

The taxonomic Revision is part of the PhD dissertation of Dr. Maximiliano Fero, currently vice-dean of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences in the National University of Equatorial Guinea (UNGE).

Neostenanthera Exell es un género de árboles y arbustos y subarbustos distribuido a lo largo de África tropical occidental y central, desde Guinea (Conakry) hasta R.D. Congo. Ocupa un amplio rango de hábitat desde áreas inundadas hasta bosque lluvioso de altura. Su rango altitudinal oscila desde el nivel del mar hasta los 900 m. Comprende 5 especies, y puede ser considerado endémico de la región Guineo-Congoleña.

La revisión taxonómica forma parte de la tesis doctoral de Maximiliano Fero, actual Vicedecano de la Facultad de Ciencias Ambientales de la Universidad de Guinea Ecuatorial (UNGE).
